"How are you feeling, mama?"

was what she said... and it took my breath away and I almost didn't know how to respond because no one had asked me.

I want people to care how I feel. Because no one cares how you feel. They only care how you look. Like that was the hardest thing when I was living through this terrible labor and delivery with my son...

I hurt so bad inside.. I felt so broken after I had my baby and there was only one woman who asked me how I was feeling. Only one.

But this culture teaches us that we don't feel, we look... because the way we feel can be ugly.

And women aren't allowed to be ugly.
